From her graduation at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of
Medicine in 1994 to becoming a specialist in pediatrics in 2001,
Assoc. Prof. Meral has devoted her career to improving child health and
advancing medical knowledge.
Her professional journey includes roles as deputy chief physician and
chief physician at leading hospitals, as well as serving as Rector’s Advisor
at the Northern Cyprus ITU (2019–2021). Her passion for continuous learning led
her to pursue advanced education, including a PhD in Medical Genetics
and a Master’s Degree in Hospital Management.
Assoc. Prof. Meral has lectured in nutrigenetics, developed
courses in child development, and mentored undergraduate and graduate students.
Her international influence extends through numerous publications, editorial
positions, and active memberships in organizations such as the International
Society of Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics.
Beyond academia and medicine, she is also a poet and writer, with
five poetry books and her acclaimed book “Dancing with Genes”. This unique
blend of science and art reflects her holistic vision of human health and life.
As the Founder
of the Nutrigenetics and Epigenetics Association, Assoc. Prof. Meral
has led international collaboration in these emerging sciences. She presided
over the first and second International Epigenetic Congress and
continues to organize and educate through the Epigenetic Coaching Program.
